How to Read the Bible: Week 3 - Understanding Genre & Context

The Bible was written a long time ago, but it is still relevant to us today. It contains many different types of books and writing styles. When reading the Bible, it is important to know what genre you are reading, as that helps us to understand how we should interpret what we are reading. Context is also super important. When things are taken out of context, we can get confused or make mistakes. Understanding both the historical and literary context of Bible passages helps to correctly understand what the text says. When you start reading, think about some of these questions: Who wrote this? Who were they writing to?

This week we have a few different videos as this is a large topic.

Here is a link to a short article about the importance of reading the bible in context.
